I have spent much of my life residing in the Greater Toronto Area. After many years helping the family and saving my money, I finally made the transition from my parents’ home in the suburbs to a beautiful 2 bedroom townhome in the city. Most GTA natives can relate to the stress that comes with finding a home in downtown Toronto, but living with a roommate has been an easy adjustment from the confines of the family home, and the independence has allowed me to put my own personal flare on the décor and styling of my new 2000 square foot rental.
Since settling into my new nest a month ago, I have been slowly accumulating décor items in anticipation of finally expressing my tastes in a visual representation of my version of home. On one of my countless trips to the department store, I came across some bedding that encouraged me to spend more time organizing the space most important to me… my bedroom. The modest cool grey pallet I selected was very relaxing to me (and gender neutral), so when I finally had my accent pieces and new side tables perfectly aligned, the complete disorganization of my door-less closet left me at a loss. This is when a friend of mine recommended the 5-Piece Closet Kit made by neatfreak!
The closet organizer came with an expandable hanging bar, 6-shelf hanging organizer, 2 additional decorative drawers that could be used in the cubbies of the organizer, and a 24 pocket over-the-door organizer. The system was very easy to put together. It took about 5 minutes to assemble & design my layout, and another 5 minutes to organize the clothes in my wardrobe. I am tall, so I was a little disappointed to see the instant double-hang had my shirts grazing the top of the innovative Max Bar, but once I tossed my old cheap dollar store hangers in the garbage and upgraded to neatfreak! non-slip hangers, spacing improved and I was left with a clean decluttered closet.
I was also able to get my shoes off the floor and now they are easily within reach stored in the cubbies of the 6-shelf organizer. No more bending over!
Because my closet doesn't have doors, I am saving the over-the-door organizer that came in the closet kit, for the back of my bathroom door to store toiletries.
I didn’t realize the difference a closet could make changing the feel of my room. It wasn’t until after I took some time to tidy and stylize the space in my room what I neglected the most was my closet. Once the closet system was installed I felt like I finally became organized had accomplished an aesthetic of my own I could finally call “HOME”.
